Horse Boy Method
Horse Boy Method was created by Rupert Isaacson, founder of the Horse Boy Foundation. This unique approach was developed in conjunction with his son who has autism and has proven to be an amazing gateway to communication and learning for those who suffer from neuro sensory conditions, including autism, ADHD, PTSD and other mental illnesses.
Horse Boy Method goes far beyond the horse. It is all about a friendly environment with no bad sensory triggers and an empathetic child centric approach. By sharing a saddle with a child, or driving them in long lines, balanced rhythms are created which are relaxing and which in turn facilitate the release of oxytocin, the happy hormone, creating a gateway to communication.
Therapists work with the whole family and demonstrate techniques, which can be applied on play equipment at home, so that the therapeutic benefits of each session can be extended. They also teach techniques with other social animals.
Horse Boy Method helps to build the brain through rules based games and introduces academics (literacy, numeracy and more), all the while setting up the child to teach us about what they are interested in.
Today Horse Boy Method and Movement Method are regarded by many neuro-scientists and educational scientists as representing the cutting edge in both brain development and education.
Sessions, known as Play Dates, typically last 60 - 90 mins and are devised with the parents based on needs and concerns. We ask for a 10 session commitment to fully benefit from the programme.
